How Things Work: [05 Jan 2004|09:27pm]

This is going to a bit more involved than I usually like, but here we go.
I looked at a bunch of role-playing communities and they all use things like AIM and Yahoo! Messenger. Lame, I realized none of us have time for that sort of thing except madrain and he already spends too much time online playing Everquest. So I've invented my own He-System. It goes a little something like this:

In a locked community post I will pose a question - for example, "It's breakfast. What do you do?"

You, as your He-Character, will then answer the question in the comments section of the post. Remember to put your character name in the title of your comment.

You may then interact with each other by commenting on someone else's comments.

Confused yet? Well, I am. Here's an example interaction.

Got that? After 24 of your lame-ass Earth hours, I will post a public summary of what has transpired so far in my own words. Then I will post the locked follow-up question and we do it all over again.

The whole thing goes on once a day for five days (Monday-Friday). You will be required to post at least one comment each day, but feel free to post more comments if you have something to say. In this way we shall create the events of one day on Eternia from dawn 'til dusk. It will be up to you guys whether or not it's worth reading.

Now, go on and cut loose, because that's what we are really here for. I hope everyone enjoys themselves and at the end of this experience feels like they had a part in creating something that they will be able to go back to and have a good laugh over. Comedy don't write itself.

Have fun and be considerate.

Hi! He-Man here. [05 Jan 2004|09:25pm]

Eternia is one screwed up place. Things are constantly going down, or something's up, while the rest that goes around comes around. This is your chance to get in on the action.
Ever think to yourself, "Dude, I could so bang the Sorceress," or, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a watch that measured time in triangles?" Well, now you can.

One Day on Eternia is an experiment in communal He-Fictioneering. That means that you, a bunch of slacker He-Friends, are going to write the story.

How do you get started?

1) The first thing you do is choose a character. You can be anyone from Eternia with the exception of She-Ra and Skeletor. You could even be me! The time period for this story is some unspecified Eternian golden age when everyone was alive. Feel free to be silly.

The thing is there are only twenty slots available, meaning after twenty characters are claimed, I will close the community.

2) The whole thing will run for five days consecutively. You will required to post at least one comment (not a full entry) per day. Not so bad, but let's see how you punks handle the infamous one-a-day He-Schedule. If you won't be able to do this, please just sit back and watch.

3) For more on the actual mechanics of this catastrophe, go here.

4) Be funny.

That's about it. While I will have some directorial control over the story, the rest will be up to you guys. Remember, this is an experiment, and there is a good chance that it will explode like an angry Gas-Monster with a firecracker in its hand, but it should be kinda fun and that's what counts.
If you think you can handle it, post your characters and questions here.
